Matt believes in the power yoga has to transform the body, mind and soul. His journey with yoga started in college, over ten years ago. At first it was mostly a physical practice that kept his body moving freely without pain while cycling, running, or walking 500 miles of the Camino de Santiago.

Later in life Matt realized how much more yoga could be, especially for his mental health (something he never really considered before). Above all, yoga taught him a way to life, one that is consistent with his deepest values.

In Matt's yoga class you won't find the conventional fast paced vinyasa style yoga, instead he holds poses for longer periods of time, to test your edge and connect to your breath. He believes it increases strength and presents students with a worthy challenge. Matt believes when the body is strong, the mind is calm and the heart open, people act from their authentic selves."

Matt has studied Iyengar, Anusara and Power Yoga lineages, completing 250 hours training with Core Power Berkeley. He received his black belt in Karate at 18. In high school and college he learned to wrestle, surf, and mountaineer. Weightlifting and meditation keep his ego in check. All these disciplines are evident in his teaching.
