The stress and activity of everyday life is often found lodged in the tightness and discomfort of our hips. This workshop will delve deeply into opening the legs and thewhole lower body. Much like a lotus flower, the hips cannot be forced or cracked open. But given the right set of circumstances and a patient approach, the hips will release like a blooming lotus flower. Negative emotions can get stored in our tight places, conscious movement can facilitate transformation and provide relief. While a hip opening posture may feel intense at the moment, you always feel so much better afterward!
This practice will start with a heat building flow, then move into a series of longer deeper holds with attention to breath and alignment. We will work towards seated Lotus pose by the end of class, but many options and modifications will be given along the way. We will close with some restorative postures, breath work, and meditation. All levels are welcome.
